Network modernization, firewall config, endpoint security rollouts, backup + DR setup. Industry certifications a plus, not required.
A day in the life
You're the SMB-side counterpart to our field installers. You run network modernizations, firewall config, endpoint detection rollouts, productivity-suite hardening, and backup-and-DR projects for 3–50-seat small businesses (dental, legal, professional services, retail).
You'll:
- Replace consumer gear with a managed firewall + access points + VLANs.
- Roll out endpoint detection and DNS filtering.
- Stand up local + cloud backup with verified test restores.
- Configure the customer's productivity suite the right way (MFA, conditional access, mail authentication).
- Document every site in plain English: network diagram, device inventory, credentials reference.
- Be the trusted face the SMB owner calls when something feels wrong.
You will own
- A roster of recurring SMB clients on retainer plans.
- A near-zero callback rate by getting it right the first time.
- A documented, repeatable playbook for each service.
Must-haves
- 3+ years SMB IT or MSP experience.
- Comfortable in a Windows + productivity-suite + managed-network environment.
- Strong written communication (you'll write the visit report yourself).
- Smartphone fluency for our tech portal.
- Valid driver's license in your state and reliable transportation.
Nice-to-haves
- Networking / security / cloud certifications (any major industry track).
- Hands-on with EDR, password managers, and immutable backup.
- Residential smart-home integration experience (we're a hybrid shop).
- Bilingual — Spanish or another language common to your service area.
What you'll get
- Real benefits (health stipend, retirement, PTO).
- Pay-range transparency that complies with your state's pay-disclosure law.
- Tools, vehicle, uniforms, training, certifications paid.
- A real career path: senior IT → vCISO → metro launch lead.
